From a post to the EndlessCalling YaHoo! Group:
Hey there folks -
I thought about asking some questions about some of the hot-button
topics going on right now....the radio censorship hearings....Mel
Gibson's movie.....but I decided to skip those for now.
Instead, I am curious about your thoughts on Internet Radio. For me
personally, this has been a wonderful new thing in my life for the
last few years. The great variety of music I get to hear on Internet
radio has also led me to get XM Satellite Radio, where I can
experience a similar cross-section of the entire spectrum of music.
There are many good internet radio stations out there. I personally
am quite devoted to the Dividing Line Broadcast Network
(www.thedividingline.com), as they really introduced me to the whole
concept. I can't count the number of CDs I have bought after hearing
a song on TDL.
It's like finding a new thing its infancy....there's so much to
discover....so few rules to squash creativity and variety. I love it.

Hey Shawn!
Once again, an amazing night. We just can't say enough
about how cool it was to participate in [the IZZ Live and Interactive Webcast
Special] and be a part of something truly unique. The fact that it went
off seemingly "without a hitch" was a tribute to you and Diane and Paul our
producer. It was easy for us, all we had to do was play. And we're
very happy there was an audience listening in. Brems, Laura and I went out
to dinner tonight and couldn't stop talking about it!
Anyway, I will make sure we send the CDs as soon as possible for
the archive. I think we taped it to DAT tape, so we'll have to do a
transfer. Might take a few days.
Once again, thanks for everything, we had a blast and we'll be
in touch soon.

Rene,
Listening to the [Kim Mitchell] interview
now and I am impressed. Real casual feel with the right mix of tunage. The
conversation is just that, its like talking to Kim ourselves and I love the fact
that the archive lets us fans, and I am already a fan, listen at our leisure.

Shawn,
After enjoying a couple of the archived
interviews, I noticed that you are now streaming OGG all day, which is
fantastic. I listened to the "high" stream and it sounds really good.
I'm particularly glad you're adopting open free standards and formats in
favour of the nasty proprietary closed formats from companies which spy and
steal and do other bad things (ie. Real).
I hope future
archived material will be archived in OGG.
BTW, you
might like to add an entry in your players list for at least one player
which runs on the many other platforms we use - FreeBSD, Linux, > Solaris,
OpenBSD, HP-UX, AIX, NetBSD, IRIX, Tru64, etc. I suggest > mentioning "xmms"
http://www.xmms.org/>, since it's the most popular audio player on these
platforms.
Thanks for the music and interviews.

Rene,
I've been testing the Whamb player tonight, and this seems to be the
best choice for your Mac faithful. Audion and VLC work well on the live
feeds, but only play one song at a time on the auto-feed. Quicktime and
iTunes will play .ogg files, but won't play an .ogg stream. Seemless
transitions from Gary's show to Jim's pirate show, and now to the
auto-feed in Whamb. Thanks for all your hard work.

Rene-
I just wanted to thank you for
playing a track of ours on your last
program.
I, like you, was a Beatle fanatic. While I was
born 3 - 4 years after their breakup, my brother made sure that I got a daily
dose of The Beatles. By the time I was 8 years old, I think I knew all the
melodies and lyric of most of The Beatles catalog. I really wanted to be like Ringo playing the drums. So, by 5th grade I made sure that I could pat my head
and rub my stomach, ( and vice versa). Eventually I started playing drum set 2
years later. Then, when I got into eighth grade I grabbed the guitar out of my
brother's closet and sat down with his Beatles anthology. slowly over the next
year, I began to play the guitar.
Long story short - I
now write, play and sing with a band called Bubblemath.
Thanks
again for playing a track of ours.
