The Dividing Line Broadcast Network Roster
These are the folks who dedicate their time to bring live programs (and their archives) to you:
Shawn Bishop
Host of Behind The Lines, aired every other Saturday evening from 7:00pm to 10:00pm Pacific Time. Shawn is the founder and owner of the station. He also looks after the technical side of DLBN operations. Shawn arrived in this world in June of 1976, the Year of the Tail (“A Trick Of The Tail”) and lives in Yaletown, downtown Vancouver, BC.
Alistair Henry
Alistair has been associated with The Dividing Line for most of its existence. He used to do a show called Momentary Dementia until time constraints caused him to drop that and produce a pre-recorded mini feature called Momentary Dementia News instead, which was played on several DLBN shows. In 2007 Alistair spent a few months traveling around Europe and he fell in love with the place. In early 2008 he left Vancouver, BC for Amsterdam, and more recently he moved to the UK where he now lives and works. He no longer produces Momentary Dementia News but he is still actively involved with station management, particularly in promotions.
Rene Young
Host of ProgRoots, aired every Sunday evening from 7:00pm to 10:00pm Pacific Time. Rene found DLBN in 2001 and started doing his show in June, 2002. He's also one of the station managers and looks after the DLBN website. Rene lives in Abbotsford, BC - about an hour east and south of Vancouver. He plays several musical instruments and writes his own songs. He has been collecting records since the mid 1960's and when still in high school he had aspirations to study radio broadcasting and journalism, so the opportunity to host a show on DLBN is fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Frans Keylard
Host of the Rogues' Gallery, which is on hiatus at this time, except for periodic "pirating". Hailing from Seattle, Frans has been doing his show on DLBN since May, 2003. The Rogues' Gallery is the most frequently downloaded program on DLBN, due in no small part to Frans' efforts to promote it and the station. Frans is noted for debuting the latest progressive rock releases along with artist interviews.
Eric "CarnivalMan" Brooks
Host of Critic's Carnival, aired every Friday evening from 9:00pm to 12:00 midnight (Way too late!). Eric has been doing Critic's Carnival since May, 2002 from his home studio in Castro Valley, CA. He features Bay Area progressive rock artists and often shares the mic with his regular in-studio guests.
Vince & Daisy Font
Hosts of Prog'opolis, aired every other Saturday evening from 7:00pm to 10:00pm Pacific Time. Vince & Daisy live in Roy, Utah. Vince likes to refer to it as "Witness Relocation Central." Prog'opolis delivers a diverse range of music and a regular feature is the Crimson Connection.
Mary "Grrrl" Campbell
Host of Underdog Prog, aired every Saturday afternoon from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Pacific Time. Mary is from Portland, OR and she's a huge fan of Rush. if you go to the annual Rush convention, Rushcon, chances are you'll see her there. Mary often has a few friends in the studio during her show, which she's been doing since 2003.
Mikebo
Host of Strange Universe, aired every Tuesday evening from 7:00pm to 10:00pm Pacific Time. Mikebo lives near Chicago and he's a huge Porcupine Tree fan. His show was named after the title of the 1975 album and song by Mahogany Rush. The album contains elements of classic rock, metal, blues, prog and dark psychedelia - exactly what is served up on Strange Universe.
Woody Harris
Host of Soundscape, aired every Tuesday afternoon from 2:00pm to 6:00pm Pacific Time. Woody lives just outside Atlanta, GA and began doing his show on DLBN in February, 2006.
David "Winkler" James
Host of Under The Radar, aired every Wednesday evening from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Pacific Time. Winkler has been hosting Under the Radar since November, 2005. He lives in Austin, TX. He is a former musician who spent about 12 years traveling around playing drums in minor-league rock and R&B bands in the Southeast US in the 70's and 80's. He subsequently went back to school and got a bachelor's degree from Berklee College of Music with a dual major in film scoring and music synthesis, and went on to earn a master's degree in music composition at the University of Texas at Austin in 1995. Later, he moved into the financial arena, working as a financial analyst, trader, and portfolio manager. His current obsession is beating the S&P 500 into submission. Winkler likes meeting people, but hates to travel.
Paul "Whistler" Brower
Host of Strange Avenues, aired every Wednesday evening from 7:00pm to 10:00pm Pacific Time.
Stu Cameron
Host of The Odyssey, pre-recorded in advance of being aired every Friday evening from 7:00pm to 9:00pm Pacific Time. In October 2007 Stu Cameron unleashed The Odyssey on an unsuspecting Dividing Line Audience. The Odyssey is chock full of classic Prog, obscure prog, brand new prog, neo prog, disco prog, and, very occasionally, country and western prog. However, The Odyssey also features Fusion, that bastard child of Jazz and Progressive conceived after a heavy night of mind altering substances, cheap Scotch and an accidental brush with a radioactive Chihuahua named Terrance. Stu lives near the beach in Sydney, Australia and is a media hack from way back. He never wears hats, rarely wears shoes, has a fondness for Fruit Bats and drinks very expensive Single Malt whenever he can borrow some from the neighbours.
David "Wilf" Elliott
Host of The European Perspective, aired every Sunday morning from 7:00am to 10:00am Pacific Time.
Steve Cozart
Host of The Point of No Return, Monday evenings from 7:00pm to 10:00pm Pacific Time.
