Right now, it's Neil Diamond- Hot August Night. For this, I make no excuses. This is an absolute MONSTER of a live album. It captures Neil at that split second in his career when he was the the most intense, emotive and just plain cool singer-songwriter on the planet. Before he traded in his faded denim jacket for a sequined satin one. Back when he had that totally out of control Johnny Whittaker/Sigmund and the Seamonsters hair, instead of that just-so brylcreem coif he's been sporting ever since. Back when every note from his weathered larynx dripped with a depth of emotion that most singers can only dream about. This man could have ruled the music world forever if he'd kept on in this vein, but it was not to be. This disc not only sports the best concert opener I've ever heard, but side four- or what used to be side four- is as close to perfect as any Cd I've ever heard. The tour-de-force of "Holly Holy/I Am, I Said/Soolaimon/Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show has to be heard to be believed and is quite possibly the best 42 minutes of music ever committed to tape. If this shit don't move you , you cannot be moved. Straight up- if your buddies razz you for digging this disc, take it like a man. There is no shame in giving Neil the props he so richly deserves- even if this phase of his career only lasted two years.

In my opinion that's his best album by far.  There is some great stuff on that album.

Grrl: Joni's one of my favorites!
Grinch: Always wondered which Neil Diamond I should buy. He's someone you have to have one of in the collection. Guess I'll try to find the one you mentioned.

Just took Neal Morse's Testimony's out of the car. Lent them to a friend. (They were my car copies - I couldn't be without my own Testimony!) And it's EMPTY in two racks there! What should I fill it with.....mmm......

Getz/Gilberto, Transatlantic SMPT E, Neal Morse Merry Christmas, ELP Tarkus..... Huh Let you know! (maybe the new cd's I'm expecting in the mail anyday)

Now Gentle Giant, Aquiring the taste, is in the stereo.
