Ok, all I see here are posts telling the administrators to reconsider and have Gruno reinstated asap. I do believe the guys are all intelligent people and as Papa said - us being 'the customers- can ask (even demand?) that this thing shall be put behind us. G will tone it down, administrators will put a disclaimer out and end of the chapter... G wants to be back, WE want him to be back, isn’t that enough?? Jairo
We have put our case out there...some have agreed with us, some choose not to believe it, others choose to dismiss it altogether. The music Gruno played was irrelevant to why his show was cancelled. We knew what he would be playing when he signed on, that was NEVER an issue.
However as a lot of people, including management, have now stated their cases in this forum, we feel this is the appropriate place to make this proposal. There has been an overwhelming response for us to reconsider our decision. So, that's what we did.
The only way any form of relationship between us can work is if we both compromise. We can meet him half way. The question is, is he prepared to make these compromises and does he even want to come back? This is all playing out quite well without him even having to write a single message here himself. I don't know if anyone even knows where he stands. However, if he wants to come back, and we know that you want him to, this is what we can offer:
For Gruno:
A 3 hour show where he is free to say and play whatever he wants. We would like to have a mutual respect with him as we aren't prepared to host someone who will continue to bash us openly or in veiled comments. But other than that, the show is open for him to let his personality out 100%
For Management:
The show would only be available On-Demand. Meaning, you can listen to it whenever you want, but it will never be broadcast openly. This way it ensures that the only people who listen to it are doing so intentionally. Remember, as it stood before you didn't have to go to Gruno's page (where the proposed warning would be) to hear his show. If you have it saved on your winamp you don't have to access the website at all. If he is interested, we would need to ensure his monthly dues are in before the first of each month for the archive to be accessible. Those kinds of details can be worked out after he expresses interest, if any??

ProgRoots, Sundays @ 7pm Pacific on The Dividing Line
How about this on-demand show is a live one but on another feed URL and with a chat room like #Gruno. Just put Lo and Hi buttons on Gruno's page to access it?
We could have a secret handshake and a big burly guard at the door. In the live stream we could play the auto-feed, but the action will be in the smoky back room.
Hey. it could work... If no babies die in the next three weeks he can be part of the main stream again. That's a better compromise.
Or they can just shake and make up and put this all behind us.

Maybe we could all agree to synchronize our watches and select the On-Demand show at a pre-set time- say...7pm Mondays.. and then all log on to the chatroom and discuss the archive. Alistair won't mind, I'm sure.
The recent proposal by management represents a step in a positive direction, but is hardly equitable. It appears to be more of a punishment. I can't see Gruno or anyone, for that matter, being willing to work under such restrictions.
In any case, perhaps the terms should be negotiated in private by the parties involved or at least privately through a mediator instead of being aired in a public forum before any decisions or agreements are made.
- What's going on ? I remember last year Gruno's 40+ h Marathon show. Everybody was requesting : Gruno, have a drink ! ... Cheers ... Gruno, some more drinks ... etc. Now this year everybody is making complaints for Gruno's drinking. - What happened ? PJ' drunken sleep over the microphone. Not sure, but Shawn has taken over the show that time. And big laugh for that all over on the next few shows by most of the DJ's. - What will be our G'less future ? I rarely listen to Gruno's Guilty Pleasures, but if I do I discover everytime new, great artists I've never heard before. Lucky for that. No other station will give such infos.
We want back Gruno's Guilty Pleasures regulary aired every monday evening, especially for Gruno's drinking, jokeing and kickassing.
On behalf of EVERYONE at the station I'd like to say thanks for giving a SH*T!!!
Yep, we care 'cause we love this station. It feels like home and we all know every family has its problems. We just want things back to normal, burry the hatchet and move on. I also like to say that I think it was really good Rene telling where they (he and Shawn) stand. All can be worked out, both parties just have to compromise and there shouldn't be any points of honor here. At least I can see the parties willing to negotiate which is a little light at the end of the tunnel... let's hope for more! Jairo
Although I haven't been a Dividing Line member as long as most of you have, I have to say that I've found it a very comfortable and enjoyable place to listen to great music, talk with other members and DJs, and basically have a great time. Everyone made me feel welcome and like I belonged right away. What a great group of people you are! I've quickly become a regular listener of three shows: Grrrl's Underdog Prog, PapaJ's Matinee, and Guilty Pleasures with Gruno. And I just can't imagine the Dividing Line without Gruno's show or his participation in chat.
I'm really hoping for the "equitable resolution" PapaJ spoke of
