Tonight Jan 8 '04 on the Rogues' Gallery
« on: January 08, 2004, 01:20:44 pm »

Hello all,

Yesterday I was out of power for the whole day due to a peculiar "ice storm", but the weather gods who usually plan such total-blackouts to specifically coincide with Rogues' Gallery oddly missed me by 1 day. Haha - missed me. Tempting fate, I know...

I have been taking requests left and right today for tonight's Rogues' Gallery via MSN Messenger. As a result, I will be playing some artists I have never played before, and some unexpected tunes by already featured artists. There will be something for everybody and I'll even throw in a mysterious, but excruciatingly cool "Theme Block" of songs to sweeten the deal. I will also be debuting a tune by Ambient Prog band Zenpool on the show tonight.

See you all in chat tonight, between 8-12 midnight Pacific!

Regards,
Frans

Ps. I am planning on interviewing the Prog Metal band Sun Caged around the beginning of February, so stay tuned for more information!

I really enjoyed the chatroom tonight, thanks to each and every one of you for taking the time to hang all night to chat and listen. There was a nice array of tunage tonight, including new songs by Koan, Zenpool, and The Fading Collection. As you read this the show will be available from the archives. Oh yes, and Gruno will point out that I broke down and played Marillion, but it was for a good cause because it was part of the Mystery Theme block (# 28-31) which was ninja-guessed by Proxi in chat. Very well done! Oh yes, the theme was "One Hit Wonders" - special thanks to Nick K for the idea!

Next newsworthy item are the two 4 DJ grande mayhem deluxe shows scheduled on Saturday January 10th! Yes, a bona-fide DJ ROADTRIP! Rene and Shawn are invading the USA and will drive-by kidnap me in Seattle (kicking and screaming of course). Destination: Portland! We'll do the Underdog Prog and Behind the Lines shows together. It'll be memorable for sure! Hope you can all make it to listen to a potential train wreck unfurl. ;-)

Saturday Jan 10th Schedule (Pacific Time!)
5pm - 7pm   Underdog Prog - Live (4 DJ) Broadcast
7pm - 11pm   PapaJ's Matinee - Live (One Man Army) Broadcast
11pm - 1am   Behind The Lines - Live (4 DJ) Broadcast

Oh yes, keep your eyes on these two upcoming special events:

1.   Seattle Power Prog Fest - http://www.powerprogfest.com/ on January 24th (featuring Lyranthe!)
2.   CalProgDay - http://www.calprogday.com/ (*Major* Pappa J and DLBN event! - Early summer 2004)

That was a fine show there Dutchie! I can't believe how quickly you were able to honor my request for the Scorpions - it's been playing in my mind all day.

And a fine request it was Kravvy. I had a great time with the lively chat and cool requests.

Looking back, the playlist ended up extremely eclectic - ranging from AC/DC to Zenpool, lol. Thanks again to all the chatters for making these shows memorable!

I had to come into the show late (missed the Koan, dammit!).  But what I did catch of the show was superb.  Will be looking forward to the DJ-quad-fest Saturday as well!
