Joel,

I'm anxious to hear how that Mostly Autumn album is and I'm sorry you're not happy with Marbles, an album I am already deeply in love with.

My most recent purchases:

Marillion - Marbles (deluxe campaign edition)
Enchant - Juggling 9 or Dropping 10 (Limited Edition digipack)
Jadis - Fanatic (Special Edition digipack with bonus track)

Not purchased, but recently acquired from someone ditching all their videos:

Marillion - Live at Loreley (VHS) - I'm really loving this one from the band's Clutching at Straws tour

Marbles, as far as Marbles goes, I wouldn't call myself a Marillion fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I do enjoy their music and thought Anoraknophobia was fantastic.  But so far I’m not all that impressed with Marbles either!  It has some OK tracks, but as an album it seems very slow paced without much to offer.  They do slow tracks well, but after awhile the whole album starts to sound the same.  I think it needs to be more diverse in order to keep the interest through the whole album.  I think I’ll be enjoying the album for single tracks rather than a whole.  Genie in particular is a beautiful song.  It’s a shame this album turned out the way it did as I was really looking forward to it.  I hope it does well for the band, you gotta commend their efforts to keep this type of music going especially when they have no label and are doing it all themselves.  I have a huge amount of respect for the passion and dedication of these musicians.  I’ll just have to enjoy their previous albums I suppose.

Purchased:  The Tubes - What Do You Want From Live
yes, I finally replaced my 1978 vinyl copy

Most recent CD: Lac Placide - Away
sent to the station by the band, from Paris France.  There is some really good musicianship and cool progressive passages, but I can't get past the vocals.  They have a female vocalist who sounds like she'd be more suited to opera.  She sings in English, while a male vocalist sings in French.  It sounds like she sings a line in English, then he sings a line in French.  I'd need a translator to determine if they are the same lines.  I don't know if I'll play this on my show or not.  But there is one very interesting 18-minute track that has a little classical acoustic guitar, but it's mostly the sound of running water, like a creek, with percussion and effects...really moody stuff.  It's not really a "song"  but I am tempted to play it just so you can hear it.  Interesting.

Lurk,

I really like this band, still taking it all in, but great first impressions (unlike another 2 CD set recently acquired Tongue) , especially the songs that Heather sings (why Bryan sings when she has such a great voice... I don't know) . This is their Best Of  collection, some really tasty stuff.

Oh, I didn't realize it was a "best of." For some reason I was thinking it was a live album. Just shows you how much more there is for me to learn about Mostly Autumn. And I intend to!

Which was exactly my reason for starting with Catch The Spirit, via Greg Walker of course :-)

Not only was ROSFest great live music and great company (thanks to Gary, Joel, Chris, Lara and fs), but it put a bit of a dent in my wallet too...

Ray Wilson - Live and Acoustic
Violet District - Terminal Breath (RPWL predecessor)
Collage - Safe
Collage - Basnie
Little Atlas - Surface Serene
Prog4You.com - Compilation Volume I
Clepsydra - Fears
England - Garden Shed
Izz - Ampersand
Paul Bremmer - Wombsong

and...I picked up another four or so cds free!  Will the musical madness ever stop?

What a co-ink-a-dink, I picked up the first Starcastle as well today, as well as a live Starcastle from 78, and a couple more Floyd covers, all from my local CD shop, Moondog knows where :-)

As far as Starcastle goes, I got a mention on their website, as well as a thank you message from Gary, and from Eric their Webmaster. Let's hope Gary gets well enough to attend Rosfest next year, so he can receive that guitar.

A few days ago I picked up the special edition of:

Enchant - Blink of an Eye

Today, I picked up the special edition of:

Spock's Beard - The Light

My collection grows more complete, but still a long way to go!
