I've decided to start a thread here where I will post any tech changes & upgrades that are made to DLBN.
Today a new randomizer module was loaded into the automated feed streaming core program and it is now running. This should eliminate the strings of similar artists being played together.
Projects actively on the go:
- Scheduling software & promo checking implementation (Programming code that will allow me to specify what times it's ok to play long prog epics. I currently have a maximum length of 11 minutes in the tracks that are on the automated feed. This is done so that nothing over 11 minutes in length will be played between 2 live shows. With the implementation of the scheduling software, I will be able to specify what times it's ok to play the prog epics.. ie when a show is not scheduled to go on) Station promos will be played once between every 2 to 5 songs (number selected randomly).
- Auto live-feed catching. Basically this means that whenever a DJ starts broadcasting, the feed will automatically be disconnected and the live show will play on air immediately.

So I'm assuming we don't have to "wait one song" anymore?
Thanks for sll you guys do to constantly improve the DLBN experience, but it sure would be cool if you could make requests during the autofeed, a la SAM2
Ahhhh... reading that software features page makes me drool like LTP! I'd use it right now if I could, but it doesn't support live broadcast switching (between automated & live broadcasts) and it doesn't have a Linux client that I could find. As it stands now, the feed itself has to be coded by our server admin all on his own, so we kinda have to build features as we go.
Well it's finally done. The new scheduling software for the autofeed is up and running. A detailed explanation of what this does can be found a bit higher in this thread listed as a project on the go. I've added 50% to 60% worth of new content to the stream so expect to hear a lot of new stuff during the times when there is no live show scheduled. The stream will play long epics when there is no live show, and stop playing them (going back to short songs only) one hour before each show is scheduled to start. Station idents now play randomly once every 2 to 5 songs. Features and promos now play randomly once every 7 to 10 songs. I hope you all enjoy the new content!! As always, thanks to Shawn Kirkpatrick, our server admin for all the work he's put in.
