Theme For a New Show
« on: February 03, 2004, 11:44:39 am »

I wish I had more hours in the week to actually carry this out myself...

I wish there was a short (maybe 2 hour) show on each week - on the Dividing Line that featured music that was a little "off the ordinary path". It would feature Rock In Opposition/experimental bands such as Henry Cow, Univers Zero, Present, Thinking Plague, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Motor Totemist Guild, The Science Project, Nurse With Wound, 5uu's, and Current 93.

I have an extensive collection of this style of music. Like I said, if I had more hours in the week - I think it would be a great "diversion" show for the Dividing Line.

Any comments? Is there any interest in this sort of thing?

I was thinking myself about how DLBN needs a show like the one proposed.  I'd also like to see it include some avant-garde classical like Stockhausen, Varese, etc. as well as experimental jazz like Anthony Braxton.  I've felt there's too little experimental music on DLBN for some time.

Hey, that's why there are pirate shows like FireBlade's. He broadcasts when he can and there's no pressure.  I'd love to see that kind of variety added to the roster. How about it?
