I even re-installed RealOne player... Whenever I click on an archive, it says "connecting", and either nothing happens (even can't close Real player) or the player closes automatically. Not long ago, all worked fine. May I have changed the settings? If so, what settings do I need?
Yours truly,
the computer geek.

When I got my new computer and installed a new copy of Real One Player recently I also had trouble playing the archives. For some stupid reason when you do a new install now, you have to manually go in to the preferences and select that it plays RTSP and RM files. Those are native Real Media file types, so I have no idea why they are no longer selected by default.
Go into Tools > Preferences, and make sure there is a check beside RA, RM, and Real-time Streaming Protocol. I bet that's what it is.
This is yet another reason why we are moving away from Real media. Not only are the free players well hidden on the download pages, but there is more and more ad-pushing technology added with each upgrade. Three cheers for Open Source programs!
Good luck Rene

Hmm, I checked all the file types Rene mentioned. Nothing. Real player does not react, I even can't close it or do anything else. And no, I don't have any firewall either.

Ichy, I think you just seem to have recurring problems with listening to archives. I seem to recall you posting from time to time that you can't hear an archive or the show isn't coming in. It's a plague!
In that case I would uninstall Real Player (completely...check that the folder is gone from Program Files) and then download a fresh copy and reinstall. Sounds like you have one or more corrupt files in the program itself.

I tried the link. Real Player opened, but nothing happened. I couldn't even close it again. I got this message:
"REALPLAY verursachte einen Fehler durch eine ungültige Seite in Modul KERNEL32.DLL bei 0167:bff7c811." Would be something like: "REALPLAY caused a mistake due to an invalid site in modul..."
