I was flipping through this book on progressive rock by Jerry Lucky and he lists the above as the Big Six of the foundation of prog. Which one's your favorite? Seeing as how all of them are amazing I think the results will be interesting. Oh, one more thing -> I know Rush, Gentle Giant, and Camel are really popular and that Rush would probably take the cake if they were on the poll, thats why I chose Lucky's Big Six as the list.
My vote goes for King Crimson...but it's really a toss up between them and Genesis for me.

I had to go with Floyd, just because they were such an integral part of my formative years, not to mention I host a show featuring their music. But, tough choice between them and Crimson, and I mean the REAL Crimson from 69-74. Gotta love a band that had TWO Mellotrons on stage during their live shows. And Lake and Wetton are without a doubt two of the great prog, oh hell, ROCK singers of all time. Gilmour ain't such a slouch in the vocals department either.
