Little Atlas - Live & Interactive (April 10th, 2004)
« on: March 19, 2004, 03:34:54 am »

Hey all,

I'm happy to announce that DLBN will be bringing you guys another exclusive Live & Interactive event!  This time on the bill is Miami’s own ‘Little Atlas’.  As many already know, Little Atlas will be playing at ROSfest in late April.  But for those that aren’t able to attend the show, worry not!  You’ll get to experience the band live through this great event.  They will go on air at 2:30pm – 4pm Pacific Time, Saturday April 10th 2004.  Spend some time relaxing on Saturday asking the guys to play your favorite LA tracks live!  A ‘Behind The Lines’ special feature, be sure to check it out as it will be an event not to be missed!

I only hope that I won't be moving that weekend. Will the show will be archived just like the IZZ one?

Wow, I didn't even know these guys were from Miami.

They've got a no-cover-charge gig tonight at 10:30 p.m. in Hollywood (FL). I think I'll go down and check them out. Anyone want an autograph?  Grin

If all goes well it should be, yep.  But half the fun is making your own requests at the time!  If anyone can't make the acutal show, be sure to email me in your requests before hand.

I went down and checked out Little Atlas last night in Hollywood (FLA) at a bar called Club M. Man, these guys are EXCELLENT! They started with a Pink Floyd medley from Dark Side, broke into a set of originals and even included a Genesis medley (Watcher of the Skies / Firth of Fifth) which was spot on. Really an enjoyable show. The guys were nice and Steve Katsikas, their lead singer/keyboard player was very cordial as we sat and talked for awhile, and I picked up their Surface Serene CD.

The band is very excited about doing the live & interactive thing on the DLBN. I have to say that their live show was excellent despite the less-than-stellar acoustics of the venue. They unveiled a couple of new songs which will be on the new album (forgive me if the titles aren't 100% accurate): "The Ballad of Eddie Wanderlust" and "The Prisoner." I'd say The Prisoner was the best song I've heard in a few years. Roy Strattman was in fine form on guitar. A great evening overall. If I weren't working tonight and if I wasn't afraid my fiancee would call off the wedding, I'd head down to Miami to check them out again tonight!  Grin

I can't stress enough to make sure you're around on April 10 to listen to these guys.

Wow, nice report, thanks!  Smiley
Have fun with "Surface Serene" - it's on of my favorite albums ever.

Well folks tomorrow is the big day!  If you haven't emailed me your question then please do now and I'll put it on my list!  We had the final mix sound check last Tuesday and I can tell you that we're all in for a great show!  Hope to see you all there,

Seeya!

I'd be interested to know if they're going to play any covers at ROSfest. They do a smoking "Watcher of the Skies/Firth of Fifth." But I'd wonder if they would want to play that and possibly get labeled a cover band.

It was/is again a great, great live&interactive show - hats off to everyone involved!!  Smiley Smiley
Sound was sooo good!
Only downside would be the mic volume sometimes.

Hey folks,

The Little Atlas Live & Interactive was a huge success!  Thanks to all those that participated and helped to make this another great L&I event.  We should have the archive up within the next week thanks to Steve Katsikas who is working to enhance the sound quality of the recorded broadcast.  So, that means that the archive will sound even better than the live show did!  I'll post here when it's available for on demand streaming.  As for my Behind The Lines archive this week, it'll be a rerun from March 20th of this year.  I look forward to seeing you all next week for some great tunes, and maybe some new BTL features!

Take it easy all,

Shawn

Hey folks,

I just wanted to let those that are interested know that if you missed the Little Atlas Live & Interactive special when it originally aired on April 10th, the on demand archive is now available on The Dividing Line site.  Just click "Live & Interactive" on the left hand side and then move to the Little Atlas section and you'll be treated to over 2 hours of music from these very talented guys.  Anyone going to ROSFest wanting to know what these guys are all about, you can now get a preview of the great music you'll be hearing by checking this out.  It was a great show and a pleasure to host.  Thanks again to Little Atlas for sharing their music with us in such an intimate setting.
