As most of you know, we're currently in the process of upgrading from RealAudio to a high sound quality OGG stream. A lot of you have commented that with the new system it's impossible to skip through the archives when streaming off the server. Since this has caused many people much sadness, Bishie the tech guy has come to the rescue (awww yeah!!!) On the archives page you now have the option to either "Stream" the show (which until now was the only option available) or "Download" the show. The download option will allow you to save the show onto your computer where you are fully able to skip around to your hearts content! Feel the joy!!!
You just can't skip to a particular song, it works the same as listening the old archive when you download it. It took me just 23 minutes to download the whole show and it sounds wonderful.
Sweet!! Does this mean that if I were to purchase an MP3 player that supports OGG files, that I can save shows to my MP3 player and listen to them anywhere I go?
Yep that's what it means! I plan to start doing this myself actually. I listen to music most often when in transport so listening to shows will be great! Even if you don't have an mp3 player that supports OGG files, there's a great free audio converter called 'dMc' that I use to convert the OGG files to standard MP3.
