It is with a tinge of sadness that I announce the final edition of The Spirit Of Radio will airing this week. I don't think i'll be doing anything spectacular like a retrospective, i'll just be playing a whole bunch of guitar based prog/rock/metal/fusion for your listening pleasure. So tune in live for the last one, or last for the live one....
I'm really struggling to get the show done each week. My work load has increased substantially and to top it off, i've taken on a semi-second job which will cut into more time. My race weekends also are a factor as they demand about a weeks preparation and i'd have to miss the show on those weeks. My semi-second job is as a motorcycle riding instructor and is all after hours and weekend work. There's no way i'd be able to keep my current time slot, as with daylight savings changing it's just too early to leave work to make it when i'm the boss and hence setting the example. I've been pondering over this for about 6 weeks. It hasn't been an easy decision. I love doing the show, but at the moment, I don't have the required amount of time to put into it. The last 4 or 5, i've just slapped together after i've got home 2 hours before it's due to start. And I think it shows. I don't have that 2 hour luxury anymore. I may be back at some stage, but for now, I need to use the time elsewhere.
I for one have always enjoyed Cal's show because it had a unique sound and filled a niche. Cal, can you do pre-recorded archives and post those (time permitting) or is that also out of the question?

It may be an option in the future Frans, but for now, I just need to concentrate on other things. I was able to spend a bit of time last night putting together a couple of things, so there will be a kind of mini-retrospective thing.
I'm listening to your latest archive now & I must say, Your show ROCKS. It's too bad things worked out like they have....
I'll try to be there for your last show.... but if I'm not, I'll be sure to play some good ol' Rock & Roll in honor of "The Spirit Of Radio" at my next practice.

I regret that I was unable to hang late enough to stop by the final live broadcast to give you an official in person "bon voyage."
As I've told you before, listening to the TSOR archive has become a regular part of my weekend the past month or so ... a perfect mix of nostalgia and musical education ... I will miss it terribly. I am thinking that this weekend I will have to get extremely shitfaced while I listen to your final show ... I can think of no suitable way to commemorate the ocassion. I just read the playlist and I can hardly wait to hear it.
Best of luck to you, mate. I suspect you won't be straying too far but either way you will be greatly missed. Like Frans said, you filled a niche here ... hopefully someone can step up and provide the face-melting guitar rock that we all need!!
