I would definitely go. It all depends on my other traveling plans and dates, but if I am free I'll be there!

When can we start confirming dates, venues, and bands?

We already have some bands confirmed. Need to figure more about other things like how we are going to pay for the venue when we book it.

And also considering that we'd have to cover the expenses of the bands that travel to participate.  We'd need to work out the finances of the whole situation and see if it's a pheasable thing.

There will be NO travel expenses for the bands because the bands are all local to the Los Angeles area. This was a MUST for this event. No travel, no hotels... makes it easier.

Well...no travel or hotels for the bands...unless they choose to foot those expenses themselves?!?  Don't you think there may be a band or two that would like to participate in the event, even if they had to cover their own costs, if for nothing else the exposure the band would enjoy to fans that have a higher probability of being into their music and therefore helping the band..."spread the word"?

It makes total sense that the promoters of the event would not be in a position to cover or help defray the costs of travel and lodging for any of the participating musicians, but I don't think that as a consequence non-LA bands should be automatically excluded from participating in the event.

You are correct BobL but in doing an event it also lies within the promoter to do follow-up on a band. You just don't tell a band who isn't local that "the show is in 3 months, be there by 3pm". There is a lot of contact and follow-up. For this event, it is easiest to have as little to do as possible for the promoters because, when we originally were all talking about this in chat, it was determined to have as much fun as possible and be able to enjoy the events of that day. I have been involved with many events to know that when you start having multiple bands come from different locales it gets difficult to enjoy with worrying about more details such as missed flights, weather delays, hotel problems, transportation mix-ups, gear not arriving, etc. Having the bands local will mean each band brings their own gear.

Also for this event to work well, we are relying on not JUST Dividing Line listeners to attend but also loyal fans of the bands appearing. That is also why prominent local bands are chosen to help with filling the theater. This is another reason why it isn't going to be an exclusive PROG line-up. It will mix a few genres together.

If this works good enough, then maybe this can be a yearly event and then we can look upon getting other bands/artists who are not local.

I wanna go, but only if Gruno promises to play his solo acoustic rendition of "Do You Love Me."

Duly taken note of this consideration, and discussed this seriously with my band members.

Fractal would like to be considered 'local' for the purposes of scheduling & management... by that I mean we're prepared to travel & lodge on our own dime & time, and present ourselves with as little coordination as would a local band. We would welcome the opportunity to play in a different locale*). In presenting ourselves thusly, we would hope that it may make it easier for you to consider including us in your plans.

Cheers,
Nic

I am sure it would be a great event and it would depend on when and where I suppose.
