A wild idea hatched in the chat room during my show tonight...maybe not so wild. It started when Saturday asked for the link to the group shot of DLBN listeners and staff taken outside the theater at ProgWest last year. We all agreed how great it was to meet each other at that event, and we wished we could do something like it again. Before we knew it, we were discussing the possibility of putting on our own concert event! It's a fledgling idea at this point, but we'd like to know how much (serious) interest there would be if we did something like this:
February 2004 (tentative), somewhere in the L.A. area, The Dividing Line Presents a special concert featuring performances by NDV, Mike Keneally, Haitz, Powder, Yogi, and if we can get them to come, Izz. This event would start on a Saturday afternoon and run through the rest of the evening. Many of us would arrive in the area the day before, so we'd have plenty of time Friday evening and Saturday before the show for DLBN get-togethers at nearby establishments.
We think we have the resources to put this together, so we ask you...if we did, would you attend? Please let us know one way or the other.

I continue to be more interested in something intimate... rather than over the top, but I would love to get together again...even if it had to be in LA!
If airfare was cheaper or you could drive 3000 miles in a day, then yes, but realistically, it would be no for me. But please do broadcast live, take pictures, video, etc. Great idea!
I will go!... that's for sure . But let me warn those LA area staff/listeners: I won't fly thousands of miles for just 2 days, I will arrive a couple of days early and leave a couple of days after the event . I So be prepare, be available (please?), show some southern hospitality! . If I can arrange a week long vacation then I will certainly go, yes I will go... I'll definitely be there if Jairo has enough space in his suitcase to fit me in there! Wish I had money to get the plane ticket... but hey! perhapsthe date will fit with a US tour schedule of Pig Farm on the Moon!!! who knows? sometimes dreams do come true...
I put in a call to my friends in The Serotonins http://www.serotonin.la/ to see if they'd like to play. They play a bizarre mix of rock, psych. & hip hop (and it works), but they also put on a killer live show. They're like a 7-8 piece band, augmented at times by a horn section, dancers, etc. I believe they share the same booking agent as Powder.
They will easily draw 50 people if the show is in the LA area.
I have their CD and once I get permission from the band I'll make it available for broadcast.
"2004: The Year We Make Contact" is because this would be the first time we make 'contact' with putting on a show. We have all met many more times before/after ProgWest so that isn't the case.
