Well, I agree with Moondog here, if it comes to only one I would have to choose GENESIS, followed real close by Yes and King Crimson... and ELP, Pink FLoyd and Jethro right behind them.... of course I would throw Gentle Giant,  PFM and early Queen to the mix.. just as bonus bands Wink

A day late and a dollar short, but I'm going to jump on board with the lone vote for Jethro Tull.  They get my vote for two reasons:

1) They're one of my big three (Yes, Rush, Tull).

2) People have been ragging on them.  Tongue

Ian Anderson is probably my favorite vocalist, too.  Nyah!

I went with Pink Floyd, with Yes as a close second.  Of course, if Rush was on the list... Roll Eyes

How impossible was this answer?  I voted for Yes because they were the doorway into prog-rock for me when my older brother gave me hand-me-down copies of Yessongs and Relayer.  But in the intervening years, I have come to love the others on the list just as much.  So maybe I should have voted King Crimson since they are my fave from the list right now.

Anyway, suffice to say that I wholeheartedly agree with the list itself.

aaaahhhh too bad it could not have been the big 7 with RUSH my favorite band included.
For the poll some good choices but I have to pick YES.

I voted for King Crimson (all of it, not just the 60s-70s stuff)

I have that book too!

Hey everyone, I just had to vote for Pink Floyd. It would have been Peter Gabriels Genesis but Phil Collins pop trio spoiled that band for me  Cheesy. Since I've found the station (Hooray) I'm hearing some amazing things, so now that PF are on the way out Dividing Line is filling my ears with King Crimson. I had only heard 'In the court of ...' before. Mmm, can I change my vote later?

All great bands but only King Crimson is truly progressive. All the rest became something else. Still love them but they moved away from Progressive.
