I'm wondering how DLBN measures the popularity of its shows.  Is it judged by the numbers in chat or are there some server stats you go by?  I'd be interested to see the numbers anyway.

Yo,

Chat is the indicator we usually go by.  The most I ever saw in chat ever was during PapaJ's matinee when the peak was 79 I believe, during the Testimony show.

And I'd just like to add that it's not a contest. Show attendance has peaks and valleys and no show has consistent numbers either way...with the possible exception of PapaJ's Matinee...I'd say that Jim's show is the most listened to on average.

I'm not implying a contest, i'm just interested in how it's measured.  I'm sure from a DJs point of view, the more listeners, the happier they would be with the show.  I was more interested in the method, coz being a geek by trade, I thought you may have a program monitoring connections by protocol, or similar.

Ah, I see. Well, to be honest it's not something we've really bothered with.

Each show has something different to offer which to me makes The Dividing Line so unique. I do have one question to add to this post...... Can a dj see how many are listening to the show but not in chat, in comparison to the # in chat too?

We once could but not now. I get a feel for that though  from emails people send that I've never seen in chat, or many people who I've met at shows that say they like to listen every week but are not the "chat type". It is cool to know that though.
