arach·no·pho·bia
Pronunciation: uhh-rack-nuhh-'fO-bee-uhh
Function: noun
: pathological fear or loathing of spiders :

Excerpt from "Recent News" section of the New England Journal of Medicine
by Dr. Biff Sidebottom

Leading scientists in six countries have convened for a first of its kind "internet phobia conference", and are basing the bulk of their research on an incident that took place Saturday night on the famed internet radio show "Progopolis".

It is reported that approximately 58 minutes into the show, co-host Jane Font (alias "Daisy Jane") was attacked and nearly injured by a spider that found its way into the studio through an open window. The DJ's violent reaction and the resulting cacophony of chaos that ensued was broadcast live to a stunned
listening audience.

"We're particularly interested in the husband's reaction to the spider attack moreso than anything else," stated Juan Von Tinkerdoodle, a phobia specialist from Finland who joined the internet conference after his nephew Moose, a regular listener to the show, informed him of its possible scientific value. "He insisted he did not share the fear of spiders with his wife, however if you listen carefully you will hear his screams are actually the loudest."

Font and her husband Vince, who co-host the show every Saturday night on The Dividing Line Broadcast Network, could not be reached for immediate comment and were said by friends to have gone into seclusion following the negative publicity the incident has caused.

The panel's findings will be published at a later date.

For any of you who missed last night's "Prog'opolis" and did not hear Adrian Belew's "Side Three" in its entirety, the archive is now up and you can listen to your heart's content!

Last night's show went virtually without incident--there were no spider attacks, no spankings, no tales of Vince falling down a flight of steps or nearly breaking the house trying to worm through an unlocked window in the dark. But there was enough fun and prog to bring a smile to even the most joyless of the Sourpuss Club.

For those of you lucky enough to live in Australia where Adrian Belew is currently touring, he'll be performing seven more shows between now and May 1. There have also been a couple of new US tourdates added, so check out www.adrianbelew.net for the latest information, as well as to read about the mention we received in the website's "news" section!

And now the wait begins for "Side Four"!

Your ticket to 4 solid hours of prog rock goodness is a mere click away. Saturday night's "Prog'opolis" was bigger and better than ever, with your loving and sexy hosts Vince & Daisy Jane in fine form. We stuffed more requests into the last two hours than sardines in a can, and had 'em begging for seconds. There was, of course, "The Crimson Connection", which featured a very special message from Adrian Belew himself--courtesy Davo, The Coolest Cab Driver in Oz. We also featured Portugese proggers Project Creation, and made a very special announcement about the future--or lack thereof--of "schizopolis". If you missed any part of the show just head on over to http://www.thedividingline.com/p and stream it or download.

Robert Fripp turned 60 last week, and we felt the occasion of our 60th show was too serendipitous to be ignored--and so we invite you tune in to the latest edition of "Prog'opolis", where you'll find a smorgasbord of Fripperies too delectable to pass up. Not to mention three solid hours of King Crimson, where we explored the three distinct eras of the band by giving each an hour to state their case. Listen to the archive (stream or download) for the next week by checking out the archives page!

Special thanks to Sid Smith for getting us the necessary approval to play select tracks from Slow Music's "Live at the Croc" CD, and special thanks to Bill Rieflin for allowing us to do so. For those of you who may have missed Saturday night's "Prog'opolis", the entire 4-hour show is now available for download or streaming audio.

During "The Crimson Connection" we showcased a track from Bill Rieflin's 1999 album "Birth of a Giant" and caught you up to date on the recent solo efforts of former King Crimson members Tony Levin and David Cross. We even threw in some classic Adrian Belew for good measure.

Tune in next Saturday at 7pm Pacific (10pm Eastern) for more great progressive rock, and if you happen to listen live feel free to drop by the chatroom and say hello!

best regards,
Vince and Daisy Jane

Tune in to the latest episode of "Prog'opolis" for your weekly Crimson Connection fix, again featuring tracks from Robert Fripp's Slow Music project. We've also got a special on-location Belew report from Davo, the coolest cab driver in Australia, as well as a track from Ian McDonald's star-studded "Driver's Eyes". We listened in awe to two brilliant San Francisco-based prog bands Headshear and Fractal, and took math lessons from Kate Bush. Was school ever this fun?

Tune in next Saturday to hear special guest host Steve Cozart (of "Point Of No Return" fame). We've lined up one of the coolest voices in internet radio to keep you company during our absence, and it all starts June 10 at 7pm Pacific. Be there or be square (as your grampa used to say).

Listen to this week's "Prog'opolis" to hear exclusive tracks from the forthcoming OZRIC TENTACLES cd "The Floor's Too Far Away". We are giving away one free copy of this CD to a lucky listener and the contest is still open! You gotta listen to the show for details on how to win. For those of you with lives to lead and little time to treasure hunt, details can be found at 136:43 of the show.

We also played some tracks from Robert Fripp's recently re-released "Exposure", as well as a couple of choice cuts from Brian Eno and David Byrne's expanded "My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts". Not content to leave it at that, we introduced the listening audience to indepenent prog rockers Variant, and told enough stories from our recent Vegas Vacation to fill a sordid novella. Those of you who missed the fun on Saturday night can listen to the archive by going to our show page!

Congratulations to Mike (aka "Rushfan") for his impressive victory in snatching up the limited edition digipack of the soon-to-be-released Ozric Tentacles CD "The Floor's Too Far Away"! An additional thank you to all of you who participated in the contest, and of course thank you to the good folks at Magna Carta records for providing the merchandise. Keep your eyes and ears open in the days and weeks ahead, as the band's current US tour may bring them closer to your neck of the woods than you could possibly imagine--if they're playing Salt Lake City they've GOT to be coming to a concert hall near you, right!?

"The Crimson Connection" was particularly hoppin' this week, with another taste of the new and improved Robert Fripp re-masterpiece "Exposure". We posited the theory that King Crimson's "Frame By Frame" is in an impossible 91/8 time signature, and drew comparisons between Riverside and Marillion on another installment of "Under The Influence." Don't just sit there feeling sorry that you missed out--get on over to The Dividing Line and catch the show archive!

Last night's episode of "Prog'opolis" was a landmark event. For the first time since the show's inception The Crimson Connection was foregone to make room for a brand new show segment. We call it (riding) "The Gravy Train", and if you haven't guessed what it is by now you're not much of a Pink Floyd fan. But don't fret--school's in, and so's your luck. For everything you may have missed, follow the links below. Satisfaction guaranteed, or your money back.

Get on board The Gravy Train and get your Floyd fix! This week we heard living proof of Nick Mason's much rumored "Fictitious Sports", saw Emily play, and even discovered a new David Gilmour song worthy of airplay! We had a special visit from Martin Landau (channeling the spirit of the late Bela Lugosi), learned about the ejaculative prowess of certain insects on The Momentary Dementia News, and took an armchair journey with Ozric Tentacles that led us smack dab into the middle of a Schizopolis flashback. All this and more can be yours for the price of a mere mouse-click!
