It seems Asia’s new album “Omega” has the progressive world divided into two feuding factions. But what else can you expect from a band as revered and reviled? On last night’s progressive rock podcast Prog’opolis, we discussed this--and a whole lot more. Like when is it okay for bands to re-record entire segments of live performances? Is there a statute of limitations? If not there should be, as evidenced by the live version of “Supper’s Ready” by Genesis, which was originally recorded in 1973 but had new vocals dropped in by Peter Gabriel in 1995.
A special note to all you American prog fans in Colorado: there's a prog-metal band you won't want to miss called American Hollow that's going to be in your neck of the woods on June 17 and 19. Get more information at www.americanhollowband.com

What started out as an evening of music with no general theme quickly evolved before our eyes, and before we realized what was happening the show had taken a life of its own. We decided not to fight it. After all, who controls the mysterious hand of providence? Episode 146 is an experiment in fear. Or maybe it's more accurate to call it an experiment in finding out how resilient the hosts were in throwing together a three-hour playlist of songs dealing with phobias. Did we succeed? Or were we simply having one off the wrist? We'll let you decide. Download the show from http://www.thedividingline.com/p

Robert Fripp recently gave rap artist Kanye West permission to license "21st Century Schizoid Man" for the purposes of sampling. Whether this was an act of financial savvy or a lapse of creative judgment is debatable, but before deciding you should probably hear the song. For those interested, the end result is included in the latest episode of Prog'opolis.
Also included: New music from Stick Men (featuring Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto), and a 25th anniversary airing of "The Falcon and the Snowman" by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. The playlist is below. The show awaits your ears.

On the heels of an official order by representatives of Declan Music and Robert Fripp to immediately halt the promotion of all King Crimson music, we've decided to take the show in a new direction. This week's podcast heralds the launch of the new and improved "Progopolis 2.0" and the start of a new show feature that's very near and dear to our hearts (and hopefully the hearts of all like-minded Pink Floyd enthusiasts): The Gravy Train. For those interested in learning about the chain of events that led to the demise of The Crimson Connection, we've taken this opportunity to address the issue on-air and hopefully clear up any confusion.
Note: This episode was truncated due to an unfortunate (or was it purposeful? hmmm) connectivity issue that kept rearing its ugly head. Queue the X-files theme.
