Tonight's show included a tribute to the Rites of Spring Festival, which will begin its third year of entertaining proggers next weekend (April 28-30). As of Wednesday, there were only about 45 tickets still available for this amazing weekend festival in the Philadelphia suburbs. Having gone last year, I can tell you from experience how much fun it is to go! I didn't have enough time to get to every band that has played (or is scheduled to play) ROSfest, however, I will try to make it up to fans of those bands in next week's show. Don't forget that "Epic Concepts" returns next week, and we'll feature the excellent concept album "Last Epic" from Sweden's A.C.T. Congratulations to our good friend Jairo, from Caracas, Venezuela, who won Cryptic Vision's new CD, "In a World." In addition to playing a bunch of songs off the new Cryptic Vision album, there were songs from Swedish band Mind's Eye, live tracks from Knight Area's 2005 NEARfest performance, courtesy of www.knightarea.com, and much more!
Like on many other shows this week, we bade farewell to Syd Barrett, the crazy diamond himself. Also, word on the street is that it was a big week for John Mitchell, as it was announced that he will be fronting a reformed It Bites, and that Kino will indeed be releasing a second album...so we threw on a couple of John's songs.
