Wait what happened to Show #27???

Well if you missed it, my fault, ask me about it sometime...it was great:

Show #27 - YesSolos

I finally found Jon Anderson's "Olias of Sunhillow" on CD and thought I'd share a few tracks from it.  One thing led to another, and I soon found myself listening to selected solo tracks from the various Yesmen, both on Yes releases and on their own.  Round it out (roundabout?) with some tributes, some choice Yes pieces, and you have The Professor returning to yesterday, and his first "art rock" love...Yes.  Before things get too happy-clappy I return to My Crimson Fix for a fripped-out change of pace.  We'll start everything off with the thunderous live version of "Yours Is No Disgrace" from the 1973 release Yessongs.

Retune the Sky Intro (1:16)
Yes - Yours Is No Disgrace (live) (14:26)

Jon Anderson - Qoquaq En Transic / Naon / Transic T\"o (7:08)
Patrick Moraz - Soon (5:26)
Yes featuring Steve Howe - The Clap (live) (3:18)
Chris Squire - You By My Side (5:03)

Steve Howe - Pleasure Stole the Night (2:55)
Yes featuring Rick Wakeman - Excerpt from the Six Wives of Henry VIII (live) (6:39)
Peter Banks - Astral Traveler (7:02)
Cairo - South Side of the Sky (8:03)

~~ My Crimson Fix ~~
King Crimson - The Great Deceiver (4:02)
King Crimson - The Talking Drum / Lark's Tongues in Aspic Part II (live) (10:16)
King Crimson - Walking on Air (live) (5:35)

Steve Howe - Labyrinth (4:00)
White - Crazy Believer  (4:41)
Yes - Magnification (7:17)
Chris Squire - Safe (Canon Song) (14:58)

Podcast, anyone?

SHOW #28 - What Shall We Call It This Week?

    Posted December 5th, 2006
Show Replay is 12 noon PDT, December 11th

PROGRAM NOTE: There will be a new show each week until Christmas (the 11th, 18th, and 25th), then I'll knock off for Christmas break, and be back with a new show the first week of January.

Newer music this week, and more stuff new to RTS:  Sieges Even, Jadis, Arena, and Rocket Scientists to name a few.  But I'm not done with the Jon Anderson and King Crimson fling, so expect another throwback album side.

    Retune the Sky Intro (1:16)
    Rocket Scientists - Ptolemy (5:46)

    Kino - Leave a Light On (6:17)
    Jadis - I Hear Your Voice (6:05)
    Arena - Opera Fanatica (13:07)

    ~~ Makinamotze's Crimson Fix Pt.1 ~~
King Crimson - Lizard (featuring Jon Anderson) (23:14) [request]
King Crimson - Indoor Games (5:37)

Porcupine Tree - Every Home Is Wired (5:13)
Pure Reason Revolution - The Bright Ambassadors of Morning (11:56)

    Fractal - Fractal Countdown (7:01)
    Jadis - Who I Am (6:07)
    Sieges Even - Unbreakable (8:59)

ProjeKct Four - Hindu Fizz (4:46)
ProjeKct Four - The Deception of the Thrush (7:12)

Correction: I made the mistake of saying that the first album by Fractal was self-titled; WRONG! it's actually called Continuum which is a waaay cool name.

The bookends are massive Epics, one the great-granddaddy of them all,  the other of a much more recent vintage, not to mention nearly twice as long. SHOW #33 - Blame it on RIO

   Posted February 12th, 2007
Show replay is February 19th at 12:00 PST

Adventurous listeners needed for this one! RIO, or Rock In Opposition, has been with us since the early days of the Canterbury Scene in the UK and is still with us, though perhaps not as overtly political, in the form of bands like Miriodor and Univers Zero. Here I stretch my
listener's ears a bit with some RIO, Avant-prog, and other musical tomes from off-the-beaten-prog-path.

You have an assignment: have a favorite piece of music that could be classified in these sub-genres? Let me know! And if you hate it all, let me know that as well  ;)

And a hearty good morning and welcome to the newest in the DLBN DJ family, Tasha!
