Well folks, I finally got all of the Italian prog together for the show. Mind you, do not consider this to be definitive, complete, spoken correctly, or historically acurate. I have only just discovered the wonderful world of Italian Prog myself and I did what I could to pile up a bunch of good stuff. This week you will also here new music from Bittertown, Moon Safari, Billy Sherwood, Pineapple Thief, Senza Nome, Lorenzo Monni, Jennifer Batten, Errorhead, and D.F.A. There is a lot of good stuff to be heard and you will want to listen again, share with friends, mail it to strangers, and petition your senator for a grant to expand the Soundscape library.
If you enjoy this show, why not rate it over at podcast alley:
Also if you would like to contact me, let me know how you are doing, etc. I can be reached at woody@thedividingline.com
Next week's theme: Eco-prog I will be looking to create a 2 hour set of prog rock songs that focus on the environment, global warming etc. So if you have any ideas, please let me know.

At the begining of every month Soundscape brings you a brief look at the history of prog. This time around we are checking out material from the summer of 71 and that features Peter Hammill, Atomic Rooster, and Gentle Giant. My appologies to Peter Hammill fans, the tracks that I attempted to play were distorted, so we will get back to Peter in October. Also in this show I chat about my experiences at Dragoncon (profound and otherwise) and we present a short set of Dragoncon oriented music.
www.thedividingline.com/ss Next week the theme moves to Physics in Prog and this one has been building for a while. If you can think of songs that suggests the themes of physics, please send them to woody@thedividingline.com

Hello to my fellow mad scientists and progonauts, this week dandy download is now available for your listening pleasure. The theme for this week is progressive music with a physics theme. I was actually quite surtprised to discover such a large conglomeration of songs that fit this theme. Also look out for new music from Anathema, Lunatic Soul, David Byrne & Brian Eno, Big Elf, Galexia and more.
This weeks show was one of the heaviest I have done in a long while. There is very little chance to relax, so I suggest you place yourself in a theta wave length during your journey so that the intensity of the journey can easily be digested. Alternatively, get in your car and take a 4 hour trip to someplace and let the music dictate the drive. You will be there sooner than you would guess, and you will likely crave a ciggarette.

Through dangers untold, and hardships un-numbered, I fought my way to the Goblin city...
The begining of this show was frought with complications, but I think I got away with it due to the awesomeness that exudes from the musical selections this week. In a recent meeting with one of the professors from Saybrook, Dr. Steven Pritzker, mentioned a new term that he was coining called the 'False Aha Moment'. The Aha moment, is that booming idea that comes loud and clear through us when we have a depth of clarity and a feeling that we have solved a problem or broken through a block, often shouting scientific hooha's from the bath such as "Eureka! I've just invented the bath plug!". The 'False Aha' would be when you felt equally excited and enlightened, but when turning your idea back out to others had the experience that suggested, you were not the genius you thought you were. This usually results in a patronizing pat on the back, and a sarcastic nice try comment.
The begining of this episode is one such moment. A creative spark, lit up a brush fire of litany, artsy fartsy sort of soliloquy thing. It may have even been a great idea, but I tried to cram so much into the moments leading up to the first song that I imagine I sound as if I am practicing to be an auctioneer at the local wordsmithing ball. So please indulge my verbosity, and enjoy this little excerpt of chaotic life thrown against the windows of time.
This week we get a blast from some fantastic new artists, The Source, and The Black Noodle Project, plus return to the early 80s and the birth of the neo-progressive movement. Also, at the end of the show we have a tribute to our beloved Richard Wright, keyboardist for Pink Floyd, who joined the heavenly jam session earlier this week. We will all miss Rick, but his music lives within us.

Do not fool yourself into thinking that there is a lot of yes in this episode. No Roger has illustrated an amazing proliferation of album covers. While not every one of them is progressive, many are. What follows then is a very eclectic set of music that will probably leave you wondering how it is that our musical tardis brought us here, You are likely to be puzzled and repulsed, but you may just find a gemstone amomgst the silt and if so we have done our job. As Suzi put it, "We go where the theme takes us". Indeed we went, we left the planet a few times leaving some of the chatters grabbing hold of the handrails and hanging on for dear life. At one point, I am sorry to say, we lost one of our passengers. Walter no longer to take the turbulence, fell out the door when the ship itself spiraled sideways into a folk rock black hole. The gravity outside of the vehicle was simply to much to keep brother Walter on board. We will make a rescue attempt when next we journey. However, to the brave remainders, I raise my glass to you Slainte Mhath! We will definitely be returning to Roger in the near future; We only scratched the surface.
Next week, Suzi and I will be out celebrating our 9th year of marital bliss. So I will throw the floor open to you guys. If you tell me before Saturday evening, which archive you would like to see in the list next week, I will happily throw it up on the board for your listening pleasure.
The week after we return, we will journey again to 1971, a year with lots of progravity and supranormal musical activity to investigate. Also Suzi will deliver our 3rd musical spelunking moment (which she is holding secret to even me at this time--I am sure the suspense will bring you along).

This week was a lot of fun and we believe that you will agree. Not only do we peruse 3 very powerful prog albums from the fall of 1971, but we also offer a lot of new music: Accordo Ce Contrari, Bittertown, Ephrat, and Time Traveler. Add to this recipe a lyrical spelunking through Marillion's Pseudo Silk Kimono and Kayleigh, and of course a splash of DJ madness and you have yourself one crazy episode of Soundscape.

Hey fellow progsters, here is this weeks edition of Soundscape. This week we return to the skeleton that props up the amazing artwork of Roger Dean. When last we checked in with Roger, we played some pretty obscure music, prog and otherwise. This time around we get closer to home. There is still a smattering of offbeat material, but there is a much more proggy vibe to this last set of music. We also get to check out new tuneage from Rewiring Genesis and Karmakanic. We had a great deal of fun listening to these pieces and we hope you will enjoy it as well. We also take yet another musical spelunking trip with Enchant's "The Thirst". www.thedividingline.com/ss If you are enjoying the show, or want to contribute to the rather bizarre ritual sacrifices that take place weekly, you can contact us by writing: woody@thedividingline.com Or if you just want to give a shout out, you can drop it in the space over at podcast alley http://www.podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=58796 Next week, we will hold the 3rd annual progoween show from Soundscape. Here we are, 3rd year in a row for our halloween shindig. I asked that folks come up with good ideas for Halloween music, and the ideas come out in droves. I would like to thank everyone who played along. I tried to accomodate every request, but in the end, there were just too many. So in order to perhaps honor all of the remaining requests, we will return to the progoween next week. That said, I felt very good about this years set and I hope you will all enjoy it as well.

Since I come here from Spain, leaving my 4 mothers....Yes, thank you Manuel that will be all. This weeks set of Soundscape takes you across a map of mini-scapes. We start with a set of presidential election music, followed by a smattering of new pieces, some remainders from last weeks prog-o-ween, and a short tribute to Michael Baker of Shadow Gallery.
Next week, we go forward yet again, into the past as we take another gander at the musics of 1971. As usual we have a plethora of older and lesser known pieces that will rattle you to your core and make you seek therapy*. Of course we will also have the usual helping of soundscape craziness and new material, a spelunking trip into a Pink Floyd classic, and perhaps I will read you all some of my poetry before I throw you out of the Soundscape airlock.

Hello Soundscapees, This weeks show features a 2 hour set of just a very few of the canadian prog artists that are out there. As with any escape velocity show, we found a ton more than would fit into a single show. That said next week we will continue with part 2 of Escape Velocity: Canada. Besides this, it is getting close to seasons end, I heard somebody say. As a result, it is time to purge my ongoing setlist. At this point I have approximately 73 hours of material stored in my setlist that I have wanted to play for you guys, but each week with the addition of themes and new material it has all gotten pushed down giving space for only a small piece of that list. So for the month of December the only themes that will come up will be the theme pieces that have been pushed down. We will still get the 1971 show, but it may take some time to get there. At any rate, please enjoy this weeks trip into Canada, and we will see you guys next Sunday for another edition of Soundscape! If you will recall I told you all last week that I intended to start purging the files that have filled the soundscape roster, well we did get through some of that, but not without adding more from 1971 to the list. So here we have our monthly history show, same as it ever was. We are lost in the fall of 71 but what a great place to be lost with music from Earth & Fire and Hawkwind driving us through the night. It is another splendid journey through the halls and byways of the progressive peoples. We think you will enjoy the show, and we look forward to hearing from you all.
Next week, we really get into the binge and purge of the show. The setlist has become crowded and now it is time to bring it all back up. We will of course be adding a dollop of the new but most of next weeks show will be the left overs and detritus from a year of programming. Nevertheless your requests are accepted and often send us flying in new directions.

Welcome one and all to the first edition of Soundscape circa 2009. After a 3 week hiatus we return with an amazing set of music. First we take an opening journey into the Soundscape with some gems that have been jangling in my head), then we dip into 3 amazing albums of 1971: ELP's Pictures at an Exhibition, Led Zeppelin IV, and Genesis- Nursery Cryme. Then we take a short look at some of the amazing music that emerged across the last year. There was so much to choose from that there was no way to do such an endeavour any justice, but take my word for it, there were some fantatsic new tunes that emerged from last years progressive spelunking.
Next week we will be off the air again, but fear not Soundscape will return the weekend after with a look at progressive archaeology (our first proper theme of 2009). If you would like to play along in helping us determine the set for this theme then drop us a line. The theme is archaeology and the songs can be about fossils, digging, ruins, if it fits the archaeology theme, it is fair game.
