Just curious as to who among our little family might be attending the Rites of Spring Festival at the end of April, 2007. I know that I plan on attending and that Woody also is planning a trip, as well as "super listener" rushfan and former DLBN DJ Joel Craig.
Is anyone else here thinking of going? They've got a great lineup for 2007 and I'd love to see as many DLBN faces as possible.
If you're not aware of this excellent festival, head over to www.rosfest.com.
Here's the lineup:
Friday (pre-show): Tempustry The Puppet Show Starcastle
I have got to find a way to make it. I have plenty of time. If any of you find a killer travel deal, could you please share the info with the rest of us?
Go to the online travel sites and do a "farewatcher." Basically, it alerts you when prices get below whatever mark you set. I've found some pretty good deals, but we're still too many months away for me to book the specials. Looks like I'll be able to find a round trip from Orlando to Philly for less than $150 if the current specials are any indication.

I've been thinking of getting out of this hole of an apartment and taking the drive - perhaps I'll see you there. I'm a little broke from a couple flights back and forth from Egypt (not sure if you heard about that ridiculousness) but I've never seen SB live soooo who knows!
cheers, as

Ever since hearing that Frost are going to put themselves on ice following this appearance I've been seriously contemplating going. Could be my only chance to ever see them live, and I really want to. Retroheads replacing Anyone's Daughter is an upgrade in my books. It'll be fun to meet up with you folks too. We'll see how the situation looks when it gets closer to February and the tickets are going on sale.

Frost is out and Galahad is in. Their recent tour got very good reactions from what I read on a German prog list (the turnout was quite bad, btw - from 18 to 80 paying guests).

Wow, I'm bummed. FROST* was one of the driving forces for Mark and me buying gold tickets.
Me too. I'm pretty pissed off at Jem for promising to keep the remaining live dates and then bailing just a month later.
I'm not familiar with Galahad, but I've heard good things, and the lineup is still a very good one, even without Frost. Spock's Beard, Magic Pie, Pendragon and Carptree are my main draws now and I look forward to hearing Galahad. The two Galahad songs on the ROSfest website are pretty good.

Bah! That just sucks as far as I'm concerned. It would be on par with finding out that Riverside had canceled NearFest after buying tickets. I *just* got my son into Frost* over this past weekend. I tild him I'd most-likely be taking him to see that swan song of his new "favorite" band, but I guess it's no longer on the table. Sad!
At this point I'll say that my attendance at Rosfest will be to see all the cool people and Magic Pie. I like to think that I'm someone who knows how to keep a commitment.

Taking Frost* out of the lineup takes out what was to be the "special" aspect of the festival for me. Now it's just another festival taking place on the opposite side of the continent, with all the geographical, financial and time constraint barriers intact. Not that none of the other bands are worth seeing, and of course it would be great to see all the DLBNers there, but I think I'm probably going to wait for something a little more practical.
