The Dividing Line / Brand New Marcus Miller album on the next OS
« on: April 01, 2005, 03:31:08 pm »
Hey all,

Recently got my hands on an official copy of the soon to be released Marcus Miller album "Silver Rain".

The album is terrific to say the least - very funky at times and melodic at others.  This is most likely going to stand as Miller's finest solo album to date in my opinion.  Stop by the check it out next Wednesday!  Just when you thought that his bass playing couldn't amaze you anymore, the man releases a solid modern jazz album with some of the sickest bass sections he's ever recorded (including a funky cover of the Steve Wonder song Boogie On Reggae Woman).

The Dividing Line / No Overnight Sensation Archive
« on: March 24, 2005, 10:12:01 am »
Hey all,

The archive for last night will not be uploaded for obvious reasons to anyone in chat, just thought I'd clear that up and I'll see you next week!  All the more reason to catch it live!

The Dividing Line / Want to win great stuff?
« on: March 10, 2005, 08:20:46 pm »
Fire me an e-mail at   ADAM@THEDIVIDINGLINE.COM  with the answer to one of these questions I asked on my show.  I got over 30 e-mails total with answers and none of them were correct.

For the double cd "Original Syn" : What was the model of Chris Squire's FIRST bass.

For an autographed picture of The Syn (whole band incl. Squire) : What was The Syn's biggest hit in the 60's?

Also remember that on the next episode of Beyond & Before I've got plenty more autographed photos to give away!

The Dividing Line / Doug Ott from Enchant on Overnight Sensation
« on: March 03, 2005, 08:23:10 pm »
Hey all,
Next week I will be running the third edition of what I call 'Overnight Sensation Rocks' in which I will be interviewing Doug Ott from Enchant.  The shows repetoir will focus primarily on rock and metal music to suit the interview so if you're afraid of music with horns and swinging eigth notes don't worry.  If you've heard my last two editions of this segment where I had interviews with Michael Pinnella from Symphony X and Daniel Gildenlow from Pain of Salvation and The Flower Kings you know the drill.  Hope to see the regulars there as well as some new faces!  10-1pm PST.

The Dividing Line / Chris Squire & Stephen Nardelli Interview AIRTIME
« on: March 03, 2005, 08:18:00 pm »
Hey all,

Next week on Thursday MARCH 10th I will be running Beyond and Before an hour EARLY.  The show begins at 6pm PST and runs for two hours until 8.  The Squire and Nardelli interview will be chopped up and intersperced within the music so be sure you're there on time!  See you all then!

The Dividing Line / Chris Squire and Stephen Nardelli on Beyond & Before
« on: February 04, 2005, 11:35:04 am »
Hey folks,

Tune in Thursday February 17th for the airing of an interview I will be conducting with Chris Squire and Stephen Nardelli of The Syn.  The Syn have recently reformed and developments are looking very exciting on that front.  I will also be airing some exclusive material from the upcoming Syn album throughout the next couple weeks on Beyond & Before and Overnight Sensation.  There's also a chance that I can get Stephen and Chris into the chat room when the interview is aired.  I've had this information for a couple weeks now and I just got the a phone call from Stephen Nardelli about 20 minutes ago confirming the date.  It's a fact folks, mark your calanders accordingly.

Hey all,

This Wednesday night will be the second edition of "Overnight Sensation Rocks" as I like to call it, in which the jazz repetoir will be toned down for a heavier show featuring a 70 minute interview with Daniel Gildenlow from Pain of Salvation.  The first time I did "Overnight Sensation Rocks" was with Michael Pinnella from Symphony X on the show a few months ago, and now were back with over an hour with Gildenlow as he talks about literally everything you can imagine - from Pain of Salvation to The Flower Kings to his thoughts on modern progressive rock to electromagnetic fields, theories on hyper individualism, fractal theory, to the structure of the Latin language.  It's a highly entertaining interview that involved a lot of laughter and good times, I'm sure anyone interested will enjoy.  I also believe that it's the longest recorded interview that Daniel has done.  So if you're interested in a slew of upcoming Flower Kings information (incl. next album and Daniel's role in the band), Pain of Salvation information (incl. The Perfect Element Part 2), or if you just wish you understood what the hell is going on in "Be", tune in!

Hey all,

Beyond and Before will be moved this week to 3-4pm on Saturday directly before Underdog Prog with Grrrrrrrlllll to accomodate John Galgano's show every first of the month.  So tune in an hour early this week for your fill of YES before Mary hits the air.

ps- remember that next week Beyond & Before will be back in the usual time slot (Thursdays 7-8 prior to the Rogues' Gallery) for 3 weeks until the 1st of next month rolls around again.

The Dividing Line / Join AdamC2 count down the TOP 20 of 2004 =PLAYLIST=
« on: December 26, 2004, 05:52:27 pm »
On a very special Overnight Sensation this Wednesday night, Adam will be counting down the TOP 20 albums of the year.  It took me a very long time to figure out my top 20 and even longer to choose the top 5.  Everything from Rush to IQ to Joe Satriani to Jordan Rudess to Pain of Salvation to Happy The Man to Marillion!  Join the party!   ;D

The first 2 hours will be the countdown and the final hour will be typical Overnight Sensation fare including the usual cuts from Zappa, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Bela Fleck, ect...

The Dividing Line / Vince & Daisy host Overnight Sensation!
« on: December 09, 2004, 04:54:46 am »
Hey folks,

Check out my archive this week for VD's take on my show.  Sometimes it's pretty, sometimes it's damn ugly, but it's the perfect mixture - the great domestic disputes of Vince and Daisy Font for 3 hours without the crappy music!  Eureka!  Check it out!

ps - then you may want to click on the Schizopolis archive button too because those guys do a great show as well ;)

Artists & Music / New Spock's Beard "Octane" January 25th
« on: November 08, 2004, 02:30:57 pm »

:::From the Spock's Beard site:::

Hi everybody!

Well, it's finally time. We've finished our new CD, come up with a title, Thomas Ewerhard, our wonderful art director from InsideOut, came up with great artwork again, and now it's time to let all of you know about it!

The new CD is called "OCTANE", and the release date is January 25, 2005. It's a collection of 12 new songs. The first seven songs form an epic song-cycle called "A Flash Before My Eyes". Then, there are five more great tracks. We think there's something for everybody on this new record. The total running time is 55:55.

There's also going to be a special edition package released with a bonus disc that contains another five brand new tracks, three little outtake pieces from Flash, and a QuickTime video about our wacky time in the studio that you can play on your computer.

Well, that's it for now. I have to head out to my gig.

The Dividing Line / New on Overnight Sensation
« on: October 25, 2004, 11:26:21 am »
Hey All,

Tune in November 3rd for an Interview with Michael Pinnella of Symphony X as well as his brand new and first solo album.

You also may find it entertaining to tune in this upcoming Wednesday for a small interview of sorts with Bryan McDonald (aka Duke) as we share the air for a few sets of music.  Overnight AnoraKtion if you will?  Should be good times.  There's a chance that Cal will be joining us as well, and if he can't make it this week, look out for Cal on Overnight Sensation November 10th.

If you have any questions for Michael Pinnella let me know by e-mail or just post them here.

Polling Station / Most Overplayed Band on the DLBN?
« on: October 19, 2004, 08:05:20 am »
This has nothing to do with how much you like the's all about how often you hear certain bands and you wish you had something new to listen to.  I often find that because I have such a huge music library (as do most people here I'm sure) when I hear certain music that I already own over and over it can get tedious.

although it's hard choosing 8 bands out of the 100's we play here I chose the ones that came to my mind right off the bat.

If you can think one you think is overplayed more than those, just post it below.

I went through all of the DJ's playlists for this week and it is surprising how often half or all of these bands come up on every show.  Once again - most of us love these artists, this is just about perhaps influencing some new music choices on the DLBN.
