The Dividing Line / ANNOUNCEMENT - 2007: The Prog Odyssey
« on: September 30, 2007, 06:52:08 pm »
A brief history of time...
*46,000 B.C. - The first human habitation of Australia ioccurs, when the ancestors of the current Indigenous Australians arrive via land bridges short sea-crossings from present-day South-East Asia.
*1606 - The first recorded European sighting of the Australian mainland is made by the Dutch navigator Willem Janxzoon.
*1788 - Captain Arthur Phillip establishes a settlement at Port Jackson.
*1901 - The Commonwealth of Australia is born as a Dominion of the British Empire.
*1988 - Al Gore invents the internet, leading to a worldwide revolution in communcations.
*2000 - The Dividing Line Broadcast Network is launched.
*2007 - Stu Cameron of Sydney, Australia, signs on as the newest member of The Dividing Line family with a show called "The Prog Odyssey".
In Stu Cameron's own words...
"The Odyssey is a weekly 2 hour musical extravaganza, featuring the best progressive music from the last four decades.  Each show features brand new tracks from established and new bands as well as soloists, composers and
producers.  We also dig into the vaults to find classic progressive tracks from artists like Genesis, Yes, King Crimson as well as finding obscure musical chestnuts that (almost) everyone has forgotten.  The Odyssey always manages to turn up a few old and new Fusion tracks as well.  Let's face it, many Prog artists drew and draw their inspiration from the Fusion greats like Mahavishnu Orchestra, Al di Meola, Allan Holdsworth, Jaco Pastorious and Pat Metheny so each week we unleash the musical beast that is Fusion to see where it takes us.
Most of all, The Odyssey is for people who love progressive music and we don't care much for trying to define the genre too tightly. After all, if it sounds progressive, it probably is."
A resident of Sydney, Australia, Stu broadcasts from his beachside home that he shares with his family, too many pets and too many surfboards.

The Dividing Line / Member of Royal Family to launch new show!
« on: September 12, 2007, 06:32:02 am »
- - - - - - - - BREAKING NEWS - - - - - - - -

The name Christopher Ambler is one that is familiar to all of those interested in the line of succession to the British throne. It's no secret that the Ambler family dominates the not so inconsequential 189th-195th positions in the royal family tree, ready at a moment's notice to assume their monarchial duties. Yet some are not content to wait around for their birthright, such as Christopher Ambler, who has been keeping himself busy with other pursuits. Beginning Thursday, September 13th, Christopher will launch the latest arrival to the Dividing Line family with "The Gates of Delirium".

In a recent interview, the royalty heir-turned-DJ said "The show will be a two-hour excursion into the keyboard side of progressive rock and the electronic genres that influenced and are influenced by prog. From classic keyboard-oriented tunes by Yes and Genesis to the sometimes-abstract synthesis put forth by the Italian masters like PFM and Banco, to modern tunes by Spock’s Beard and Ayreon, I will try to cover the whole spectrum. I will also diverge now and again into some of the solo work from Wakeman to Emerson to Okumoto as well as the sources of much of the electronic influences like Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, and lesser-known electronic ancestors. Your suggestions, feedback, and even criticism are more than welcome!"

Fans of prog and the Royal Family alike are encouraged to tune in this Thursday at 6pm Pacific (or 2am GMT) for what should be a wonderful new show!

The Dividing Line / SOFTWARE WARS: Episode XIX
« on: June 30, 2007, 10:46:58 am »
A short time ago, on an internet radio station far, far away...

It is a period of technological uncertainty. Rebel DJ's,

broadcasting from a hidden studio deep in the badlands

of Utah, have won their first victory against the evil

Microsoft Empire.

During the battle, Dividing Line spies managed to concoct

a workaround to keep Prog'opolis broadcasting, all the while

working to thwart the Empire's ultimate weapon, the Blue Screen

of Death Star--a mysterious force with enough power to destroy

an entire computer.

Pursued by the Empire's sinister agents (who frequently disguise

themselves as software and hardware malfunctions), Princess Daisy

races to the local SmartTech aboard her little red Corvette,

custodian of the secret plan that can save her listeners

and restore Prog'opolis to the internet...

The Dividing Line / REMINDER: Prog'opolis tonight!
« on: June 02, 2007, 10:26:11 am »
Tune in tonight at 7pm Pacific (10pm Eastern) for the return of Prog'opolis!

The "new" show will be a much more fun, off-the-cuff, and relaxed format. Gone are the days of The Crimson Connection and The Gravy Train, but that doesn't mean you won't get your fill of Crimson or Floyd, so don't despair!

Requests are heartily encouraged! Email us at or and get in your requests, or swing by chat during the show. A grand time will be had by all!

Love and prog,
Vince and Daisy
