Farewell to Ian Wallace

Ian Wallace lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, Feb. 22nd.

Mr. Wallace will be well-known to aficiandos of King Crimson as the drummer for the "Islands" era band and perhaps the first Crimsonite willing to play the blues while on stage with Robert Fripp.  After Crimson he played with just about everyone else as a session drummer extraordinaire, including Dylan, Brian Eno, the Eagles, CS&N, and on and on.  Born in England he resettled in Nashville during the '90s and then moved to LA earlier this century.  He was part of the 21st Century Schizoid Band and formed the Crimson Jazz Trio, a fascinating retelling of classic Crimson tunes in a jazz combo context (well documented on our own departed Progopolis).  Volume 2 of the Crimson Jazz Trio is expected to be released posthumously.

Thanks Professor for posting this tragic news. Wallace was a hell of good drummer, he will be missed: R.I.P.
