The Return Of Guilty Pleasures (updated 12-30-03)
« on: December 30, 2003, 12:13:53 AM »
Hey guys,

I spent a few hours on the phone with Rene and I am pleased to say that we were able to reach an understanding that all parties are content with!

Guilty Pleasures will be on the air next Monday at its normal time!

Thanks!

I heard that Shawn came up with a "Shock the Gruno" device that can be triggered by listeners from the chat room. This is going to be great fun!!!  What a progressive idea, I wonder where he gets such inspiration?

This is really great news. Let's see, from the time the announcement went up in the news section (during Franks show on friday, I believe), to Rene's announcement last night, we're talking about three days there. That's absolutely phenomenal. It is really heartening to see everyone being so flexable and grown-up about all this. With all the various personalities and egos involved, it would have been so easy for each side to get entrenched in their own stance, but fortunately, this did not happen. Kudos to management for keeping the focus on what the listenership wants to hear, as well as to Gruno for making whatever pledges or concessions (and I'm sure there were some) necessary for the greater good of all involved- Gruno, Management, and audience. And huge props to PapaJ for keeping a lid on hotheaded fans like myself while he brokered a solution. If the concert promotion gig doesn't pan out, you might want to consider a career with the State department, Papa. :)
What a pleasure it is for a cynic like myself to see what could have degenerated very quickly into a playground brawl be handled in such an adult manner. My heart, usually two sizes too small, has grown three times and broken the magnifying glass!

And to Rene- nice work bookending your announcement last night with the Kevin Gilbert tunes. The relevance was not lost on me. You have proved yourself a real class act.
I am very happy that this has been all ironed out, and I look forward to many hours of happy listening and interaction with the good people I've met here.
It looks just like a Telefunken U-47....

Thank god everyone is at peace again!  I've always distanced myself from any internet politics, but I was really feeling down this weekend...the handfull of regulars who listened to my live show on Friday probably noticed.  The live chat & message board had a lot of people expressing strong opinions...somehow everything worked out for the best.  But should we expect a "kinder, gentler" Guilty Pleasures...I doubt it!  LOL

And here I was getting ready to take over Monday nights as the first step on my path to world domination!

:-)

Glad to have Gruno back.

Thank you Rob for being so gracefully understanding regarding the time slot.  We offered up Mondays at 7PM when we believed Guilty Pleasures would not be back.  Rob's show on Tuesday nights is a difficult time slot for him, running into the wee hours when he has to get up for work in the morning.  With 14 DJs and only 7 days in a week, we can't all have a prime time slot and some of us end up with a less than ideal place in the schedule.  I guess it's the love of doing a show that outweighs the obstacles.
