Okay, let's see:
2. HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
Your computer and Internet connection must be fast enough to upload the live audio stream to the server. High speed cable, DSL, or equivalent is required.
--> I have DSL (flatrate with restricted data volume).
You need the broadcasting software. PC users use Winamp with an OGG VORBIS plug-in. MAC users use Real Producer or Helix Producer.
--> I have a PC, use Winamp and can listen to the OGG sound which means I should have that plug-in.
Of course you need a microphone, and headphones are recommended so you don't risk feedback through your speakers.
--> Don't have that. What do you folks use? A headset? Will a cheap one do? What do you recommend?
It is recommended that you have the mIRC chat program.
--> Have that one.
You will also need to be able to transfer files via FTP in order to upload your show archives and promo clips, etc.. We can help you find and configure all the necessary software.
--> Never done anything with FTP before. I could need that help here.
What's the "size" of a show, btw? I'm using DSL with a limited data transfer, so I wonder if that will be a problem.
And I'll have to use mp3's for broadcasting, right? Which means that I have to convert most of my CD collection into mp3's. Which means I'd have to upgrade my PC with more space on my hard drive. Maybe an external hard drive just for the music. Right?
